My Dad, Tony P (he will love a name check on the Offical Joe Cocker Site!) is a HUGE fan of JC and it's somewhat of a tradition that i 'surprise' him with the new Joe Cocker albums (it started when i was a kid and i'm now 35!). Recently, despite being told 'not to spend my money on him', my Dad dropped a MASSIVE HINT that the great man had a new album coming out!
Disobeying my Dad yet again, I was straight onto Amazon and putting in a pre-order. Once i 'surprised' my Dad and let him play it on loop a few dozen times, i (like always) had to have a listen and although i'm far from an expert, i think it is his best album for a long time and my Dad (who IS an expert!) is loving it!!
To me, it reminds me of the likes of 'Cocker' and 'Luxury you can afford' and the Joe Cocker i remember playing endlessly on the old cassette deck and dodgy car stereo throughout childhood.
