Watusi Cattle

CATTLE OF KINGS-----ANKOLE WATUSI
Ankole - Watusi cattle are the show-stoppers of the bovine kingdom. Medium sized animals, with long, large-diameter horns, they attract attention wherever they appear. The ancestry of these elegant, graceful animals is easily traced back more than 7,000 years. The breed is often referred to as the "cattle of kings."

Watusi cattle were first brought to Europe in 1929 by Walter Schulz & family who traveled here by boat. Years later, the Schulz & Lindemann families brought two bulls to the United States. American ranchers began purchasing this rare breed in effort to help preserve the Watusi breed.

Pam & Joe Cocker began raising Watusis in 1992, joining the "World Watusi Association." Pam says, "Joe and I both found the Watusis exceptionally beautiful, regal animals." Joe, a history buff and avid reader, is fascinated by anything to do with the "dark continent" (Africa), and enjoys the fact that the breed still remains a prominent mainstay in the Rundi culture there
